Women empowerment

Women Empowerment

In today’s world of globalization women and men are on an equal footing. The old age ideology of women being treasured at home and the men marching out to face the world is almost obliterated. Women, it seems, today have more courage than men. Still, the world has not completely accepted women in their new roles of success. For example, even today a lot of women sit at homes, cooking, gossiping, still in their old roles. These women didn’t have any proper education in their time as girl education was not believed in by the ages gone. But in this new light of new generation women are seen in a completely positive way. Men have started accepting them in their work circles. They are given equal footing, equal pay, which was not the case before.

In the olden days, the women were subjected to many horrors like Sati, Jauhar, Child Marriage, Restriction in widow remarriage etc. Even in modern times the women face malnutrition, poor health, lack of education, mistreatment, female infanticide etc. These problems lead to the slow growth of women empowerment. Here’s why women empowerment should be implemented:

First, there are several benefits in the household. There is a famous saying that-

“If a woman is educated, then the whole household is educated”

Education is and always was and will be the first step towards empowerment of any kind. An uneducated person is like a blind man even on having eyes that can see. The person doesn’t know the dangers of the world, the tricks of life that pull anyone into the abyss of oblivion.

Therefore, if women are educated then their children will naturally be educated. A woman is the first teacher of children. Children, who later on mature and bring miracles onto this beautiful Earth. This is the first advantage provided by women to the household.

The second advantage is income. A working woman will provide additional income to the household. Thus the economic capacity of the household will increase thus empowering the household to enjoy various consumer services and products.
The third advantage is well-behaved children. An educated woman teaches manners to her children. Thus, the children exhibit the same good manners in the outside world. Thus, this increases the status of their household in the world.

Second, there are several benefits to the society. There is a famous saying by Harriet Stowe that says-

Women are the real architects of society”

This saying is truly said. A woman is really an architect of society. A woman contributes to the society in a spectacular way. i.e. By raising children. Children who are the beacons of a new generation. Women first play the role of mothers and teacher and then friends and supporters of their children. Also, it is known that behind every man’s success there is the hand of a woman.

Also, women empowerment results in a much stable society. The evils of the society which are mostly on women will be obliterated if women are empowered. The women will know how to use their rights and also know how to face the world. They can also be role models to the society by providing well behaved children and also ensuring the integrity of their husbands and children alike.

Third, women’s contribution to economy. Women can contribute significantly to the economy of the world. According to the stats, there are about 51% of women in the world and 49% of men. Just imagine, if all the 51% of women in the world are employed. 51% out of the world’s population of 7.092 billion, which amounts to about 3 billion of the population. Imagine the income that they would bring.

I don’t think I need to signify any facts about this. The picture regarding economy is almost very, very clear.
Due to these reasons, lots of organizations like the IGSSS, National Council of Women have been established in India and several others in this wide world. Their aim is one: Empowering women in the coming generation. That, is in fact a very good aim. In the end, I would like to quote a quote of Gandhiji

“Woman is the companion of man, gifted with equal mental capacity.”

Thus, I conclude my motion by saying that a woman is on an equal footing with man. A woman too should be given equal rights and to ensure the development of the society, the nation and ultimately the whole world.
